Course Description

Developing the project estimates is one of the most difficult tasks the project manager and team face during the planning of a project. This two-day session offers some theory and a lot of hands-on practice to apply various estimating techniques to the development of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The session reviews how combining the various estimating techniques to the WBS takes the mystery out of creating project estimates. The session also reviews in detail when to apply the various estimating techniques to the WBS.

Learning Outcomes

Through mini lectures and hands-on teamwork, the course seeks to create a typical project life cycle, with practical instruction on how to—

  • Identify the various estimating techniques

  • Identify the appropriate estimating techniques for different types of projects

  • Identify when to use estimating techniques on a project

  • Apply various estimating techniques to the WBS
