Intended Audience

Project Management Essentials is designed for people who have recently moved into—or would like to move into—project management or project lead positions. Those with previous experience in managing projects will also benefit from this introduction to current practices and the project management process. Participants are welcome from all business and technical backgrounds. This course offers a solid foundation for the other courses in the project management curriculum.

Course Description

The course focuses on the basics of the project management framework as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI). The project life cycle is reviewed in detail, with special attention paid to developing and managing the project scope. Hands-on exercises focus on developing Work Breakdown Structures and techniques for creating a strong working relationship with the client. A case study helps prepare for the twists and turns all projects follow. This course offers a comprehensive experience that can be applied directly to any project.
